Making Maths
Mathematics Education Research Group, MMU
Curve Cubes came out of the exploration of curves which began with fabric bowls. We wanted to find a way to explore similar ideas, but using elements which could be quickly joined, taken apart and remade. This would allow people to test their thoughts and quickly form ideas about 2D and 3D curves.
We use durable laser cut plastic to make the shapes, with snap buttons joined in a way which allows the shapes to be as versatile as possible. We are still in the process of developing these shapes to create different ways of playing with them.
